Presentation of Books at NSU: Ordubad State Historical-Cultural Reserve and History of Babak District

At Nakhchivan State University, a presentation has been held of the monograph titled Ordubad State Historical-Cultural Reserve, authored by Academician of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Honorary Alumnus, and Consulting Professor of the university Hajifakhraddin Safarli, and the book titled History of Babak District, co-authored by PhD in History and Associate Professor Ilhami Aliyev.

At the event, the Rector of the University, Elbrus Isayev, stated that the presented books are important scholarly sources for studying the history of Nakhchivan. The Rector highlighted that the research conducted by Professor Hajifakhraddin Safarli, who has been engaged in academic work for many years, provides valuable guidance for the new generation of researchers and students.

Elbrus Isayev noted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev referred to Ordubad as “the pearl of Azerbaijan,” emphasizing that it is one of the ancient cultural centres of the country. In this regard, the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On the Establishment of the Ordubad State Historical-Cultural Reserve” holds particular significance for the preservation and study of Nakhchivan’s rich historical heritage. The Rector emphasized that these books are valuable scholarly sources presented within the framework of this Decree.

At the event, Arif Aghalarov, Dean of the Faculty of History and Philology; Khazar Huseynov, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani History, and Gadir Akbarov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty, delivered speeches sharing their views on the scholarly significance of the books. They noted that the book titled Ordubad State Historical-Cultural Reserve provides extensive information on mosques, madrasahs, cemeteries, qanats, and other monuments covering five topics. Meanwhile, the book titled History of Babak District systematically analyses the district’s establishment, socio-economic and cultural development, and the fields of education and culture, covering three chapters and 16 topics.

Author Hajifakhraddin Safarli expressed his gratitude for the continuous support provided to scholars and scientific activities at the university. He emphasized that to date, he has donated 700 book titles to the university’s Scientific Library and additionally presented two new books as gifts to the library.

It should be noted that Hajifakhraddin Safarli is the author of over 600 scientific works, including nearly 50 monographs, textbooks, and methodological materials
