The "Pharmacy and Biochemistry" department is one of the leading specialized departments in the fields of "Treatment", "Medical prevention", "Pharmacy" and "Pharmaceutical technology" at the basic medical education, bachelor's and master's levels of higher education.

The department provides training in 31 different subjects in the preparation of future specialists. The subjects are taught by highly qualified specialists. Various technical means and methods of modern training are used to improve the quality of teaching of subjects and to increase the efficiency of the teaching process. Currently, there are 13 professors and teaching staff working in the (Pharmaceutical and Biochemistry) department. Among them, 1 person is a professor, 1 is an associate professor, 3 are PhD in biology, 3 are senior lecturers, and 5 are teachers.

By the order of the rector of Nakhchivan State University No. 832 dated 26.11.2016, Mammadov Bahruz, PhD in pedagogy, was appointed to the position of head of the "Pharmacy and Dentistry" department. Kiblali oghlu was appointed, and Seyidov Mursel Museyib oghlu, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, currently heads the chair until 2023 based on order No. 728 dated 04.11.2021. According to the extract from the minutes of the meeting No. 11 of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine dated November 29, 2023, from November 29, 2023, Rahimova Sura Ali Gizi is the full-time head of the Chair of Pharmacy and Biochemistry.
