It spans approximately 145-66 million years ago. Fossil remains of this plant species are often found in sedimentary rocks of the Early and Late Cretaceous period. Note that in modern paleobotany, this species is sometimes classified as Geinitzia reichenbachii. Sequoia is a genus of large conifers that still exists in modern times.
