A scientific-practical conference and exhibition was held on the topic "Creativity of Mirza Gadim Irevani in Azerbaijani visual arts".

On October 9, under the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mirza Gadim Yerevani, organized by the Union of Nakhchivan MR Artists, Nakhchivan State University, Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, Nakhchivan Teachers' Institute, West Azerbaijan Community and the Union of Azerbaijan Artists, in the Exhibition Hall named after B. Kangarli A scientific-practical conference and exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of "Creation of Mirza Gadim Irevani in Azerbaijani fine arts" was held.

Declaring the conference open with the opening speech, the deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the chairman of the Union of Artists of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ulviya Hamzayeva spoke extensively about the essence of the event. It was stated that the outstanding artist Mirza Gadim Iravani is the founder of Azerbaijani easel painting, and in his creation, he formed an original style by harmoniously uniting the rich traditions of classical Eastern miniature and ancient folk art, and the achievements of European realist painting. The President Ilham Aliyev's Decree dated February 14, 2025 on the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mirza Gadim Yerevani, who continues the political legacy of the genius leader, caused the joy of all art lovers as an expression of respect for the art and personality of this outstanding artist of Azerbaijan.

Academician Ismayil Hajiyev, Chairman of the Nakhchivan Section of ANAS, spoke about the state support that does not play a special role in researching the activities of creative people like Mirza Gadim Iravani  , and emphasized that the deep artistic path of the artist who lived for 50 years is reflected in the works of creative artists even today. It was noted that the works of Mirza Gadim Yerevani, especially the painting compositions in the Sardar Palace in Yerevan, which are among the masterpieces of Azerbaijani architecture, always occupy their place in the research and interest of our researchers. He talked about the facts about the legacy of the artist who made his debut. Mr. President Ilham Aliyev's Order is an expression of the great value given to the art of painting as a whole, to this school and at the same time to the literary-cultural and artistic environment of Iravan. Elbrus Isayev added that the conference-exhibition was held as part of the upcoming activities arising from the Decree, and that this event was also a contribution to the concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan. The Rector specifically noted that among the examples that keep Mirza Gadim's creative heritage alive, it is gratifying to see paintings with artistic-aesthetic impact in the works of our students in the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University. It was noted that this tradition, which preserves the high value of monumental portraits and compositions as perfect art examples, has a positive effect on the development of personnel training even today.

In the end, the exhibition "Mirza Gadim Iravani's creativity in Azerbaijan  fine art" was declared open and viewed. Asip Kaya, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan, and Tamam Jafarova, a deputy of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, among the guests, congratulated the exhibition participants and wished them creative success. Letters of thanks were presented to the artists who participated in the exhibition.
