An international scientific-practical conference on "New challenges in ensuring the sustainability of biodiversity (COP29) - Green world and human health" was held

The opening of the conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, jointly organized by the Authorized Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan State University, the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education, and the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Botanic Society event took place in the Botanical garden.

Speaking at the event, the rector of the higher educational institution Elbrus Isayev welcomed the guests and participants and said that this year our country will host COP29 as the most important event of 2024 for Azerbaijan. said. The Rector drew attention to the fact that 2024 has been declared the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in Azerbaijan by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev. Holding of COP29 in our country will contribute to the wider development of Azerbaijan in terms of economic and tourism, along with political and other directions. In this regard, the rector emphasized that a number of events were held in the university within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" and "COP29" and said that COP29 and "New Challenges in Ensuring Biodiversity Sustainability" dedicated to the Year of Solidarity for a Green World (COP29)-Green world and human health" scientific-practical conference will contribute to the policy of our state in this direction.

Azerbaijan The general director of the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education, professor Seyyare Ibadullayeva noted in her speech that the work of protecting the natural wealth of our country at the state level has been carried out systematically since the second half of the 20th century. Important steps have been taken in the field of protection of natural resources and implementation of greening programs in Azerbaijan.

Seyyare Ibadullayeva stressed that the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity is one of the most important and global problems of the 21st century, and it is one of the priority issues that the state considers important to solve. The professor said that the program of the conference is very rich. "I am sure that the reports and speeches presented at the conference will be able to guide scientists and researchers to new ideas, especially in the issues that lie ahead for solving environmental problems," it was stated in the speech.

Corresponding member of ANAS at the conference, Professor of the "Pharmacy and Biochemistry" chair of the Faculty of Medicine Tariyel Talibov, Ibrahim Jafarov, Director of the Plant Protection and Technical Plant Scientific Research Institute, Biological Sciences doctor, professor Eldar Novruzov, vice-rector of Nakhchivan State University, doctor of philosophy in biology Elsever Asedov, doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Ismail Mammadov and doctor of philosophy in biology, associate professor Samira Bagirova spoke.

The lectures were followed by a viewing of the book exhibition organized by the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education.

More A memorandum on joint cooperation was signed between Nakhchivan State University and the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The memorandum includes items such as the use of the material and technical base, personnel potential of the parties in the field of scientific research and personnel training, and the identification of areas of joint cooperation, linking the teaching process with scientific research, strengthening the integration of science and education, forming the practical knowledge, skills and habits necessary for research and professional activity in students and graduates, applying scientific innovations in the field of biology in the educational process, etc.

Reciprocal gifts were presented at the end of the plenary session of the conference.
