"From Back to the Future: Smart City Concepts" ideaton was held at NSU as part of the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture"

On February 24-25, 2026, an ideaton called "Back to the Future: Smart City Concepts" was organized at the Innovation Center of Nakhchivan State University.

The event was held as part of the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" announced in the country, as well as the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Planning Forum. was carried out in accordance with current topics. The main goal of the Ideaton was to ensure the contribution of young people to the development of smart city concepts based on modern urban planning and architectural approaches for Western Azerbaijan.

Within the Ideaton, the participants worked in teams to prepare conceptual projects and presented their ideas on smart city solutions, sustainable urbanization models and innovative architectural approaches to the jury.

According to the competition conditions, the participants were not required to produce a prototype. Teams presented their projects in 3D model, concept map, website or presentation (slide) format. The evaluation of the projects was carried out according to 5 criteria.

According to the final results, the "Feed" team was awarded the 1st place, the "IT Girls" team was awarded the 2nd place, and the "Ener city" team was awarded the 3rd place.

It should be noted that ideaton is considered an important platform in terms of developing innovative thinking skills of young people, strengthening teamwork, as well as forming sustainable and modern urban planning models.
