June 15 - National Liberation Day was celebrated at Nakhchivan State University

The event began with a one-minute silence commemorating the dear memory of National leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs and playing the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Vice-rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of the university Arzu Abdullayev, who spoke at the event, pointed out that the name of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev is associated with this remarkable day written in golden letters in history. It was stated that today, marked as an important date in the calendar since 1997, the socio-economic and political development that took place in the country after the return to power of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev played a decisive role in the strengthening of our state, joining the process of close integration with the civilized world and building a modern society that ensures the strategic interests of our people. It was emphasized that the foundation of the diplomatic strategy, which played an important role in the 44-day Patriotic War that decided the fate of Karabakh, was laid during the years of Heydar Aliyev's rule. Arzu Abdullayev pointed out that after the coming to power of the Great Leader, independent state institutions were established in the country, democratic principles were established, the foreign policy of the Azerbaijani state, relations with the world's leading states and international organizations began to develop based on national interests and far-sighted political perspectives. Against the background of all this, significant steps were taken towards the development of the autonomous republic. On the occasion of the holiday, the vice-rector congratulated the participants of the event by recommending the young people to properly fulfill their duties as citizens of an independent state. His speech related to the historic day was listened to.
