March 31 - Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis was commemorated at NSU

March 31- An event dedicated to the Genocide of Azerbaijanis Day was held at Nakhchivan State University.

March 31, originally taken by teachers and students of the Faculty of Arts there was a viewing of the exhibition in which about 40 paintings related to the genocide were displayed. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Nakhchivan State University Rector Elbrus Isayev noted in his speech that the March 31 genocide was a part of the Armenians' policy of staged genocide against Azerbaijanis. The Rector noted that with the decree "On Genocide of Azerbaijanis" signed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in 1998, the tragedy was given a precise political assessment for the first time. He emphasized that during the Second Karabakh War, the Azerbaijani people united closely around the Supreme Commander and asserted their strength, and the victims of the genocide were avenged. From March 30 to April 3, 1918, in addition to Baku, in Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Shamakhi, Guba, Zangezur and other regions, Armenian armed forces killed more than 50 thousand Azerbaijanis, and displaced tens of thousands of people from their native lands.

Asmar Huseynzade, a first-year master's student majoring in "new history", said in his speech that the March 31 genocide was one of the bloodiest pages in history. He emphasized that during this bloody tragedy, Armenians committed merciless massacres against children, women and the elderly, killed people with cutting and piercing tools, and even burned them alive, destroyed architectural monuments and settlements.
