Rector of NSU Elbrus Isayev met with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Amman Eldar Salimov, visited the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan

On May 20-23, the university delegation led by Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. met with the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Amman, Eldar Salimov. >Rector Elbrus Isayev expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and expressed that NSU is also interested in participating in the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and education. Perspectives in this direction, especially regarding the involvement of foreign students, were exchanged.  

After the meeting, the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Cultural Heritage of Western Azerbaijan" was held at the embassy. Textiles, jewelry, metal products, historical coins and other items selected from the collection of Mohammad Al-Baghdadi, one of the well-known collectors of the Near and Middle East, researcher, specialist in antiques and oriental carpets, which visually demonstrate the richness, originality and historical depth of the cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan, were displayed at the said exhibition. Household and decorative items of the XVIII-XIX centuries used by our compatriots living in the territory of Western Azerbaijan, weapons and armor, national costumes, piled and non-pile carpets of Western Azerbaijan, as well as 5 Safavid coins minted in Yerevan during the years 1654-1720 were displayed in the exhibition.

On the same day, Rector Elbrus Isayev met with the Deputy Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mamun Al-Dabai  . Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Eldar Salimov, the delegation of NSU, including a number of officials of the ministry and the embassy took part in the meeting. 

Al-Dabai  Welcoming the Azerbaijani delegation, he spoke about the deep-rooted mutual relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan  . He stated that the cooperation agreement signed between NDU and Al Al Beit University for the regulation and development of relations in the field of higher education, student-teacher exchange, and scientific research is of significant importance. He talked about the admission rules for foreign students studying in Jordanian higher education institutions, the information about the opportunities offered to them. He also pointed out the proposed regulations for paying university tuition fees to Muslim students from non-Arabic speaking countries who wish to study Arabic language and Islamic law on an equal basis with Jordanian students.

Nakhchivan State University Rector Elbrus Isayev expressed his gratitude to Al-Dabai for the warm reception and hospitality, noting that bilateral relations are aimed at the development of the educational environment. The rector emphasized that internationalization is one of the main strategic development priorities at NSU and it has direct relations with about 150 universities of the world. According to the foreign student contingent, the country ranks first among the country's universities, which currently has about 2,000 foreign students from 15 countries studying at the higher education institution. In addition to the Azerbaijani language, the university also has specialties taught in English. The Rector emphasized that issues such as cooperation between higher education institutions of foreign countries, organization of joint programs, international student-teacher exchange, study of international experience between universities are kept on the agenda. Extensive activities are organized in the direction of implementation of new projects in the field of dual diploma programs, international trainings and international cooperation, which are important in the field of joint staff training with foreign universities. Within the framework of these activities, the cooperation established with Jordan's Al Al Beit University is also of special importance, and future innovations are planned. In particular, further development of relations in the field of higher education and scientific research, involvement of Jordanian professors in various specialties, academic and student exchange in Arabic language, and joint research are planned. Rector Elbrus Isayev and Secretary General Al-Dabai discussed issues related to the accreditation of their specialties in Jordan.

At the end, mutual gifts were presented as a souvenir of the meeting and a photo was taken.
