The IIl international scientific conference "Artificial intelligence: from theory to practice" was held at NSU

The lII international scientific conference "Artificial intelligence: from theory to practice" was held at Nakhchivan State University.

Before the conference, the exhibition of students of the University's Faculty of Architecture and Engineering was viewed. More than 30 projects such as a smart solar panel, a car park, a safe pedestrian crossing, a smart city, an air pollution camera, an automatic car light system, a zero-waste ecological city, a safety system on mountain roads, and reducing factory emissions were displayed at the exhibition. It was carried out in cooperation with Baku Engineering University, Istanbul University, Istanbul Technical University, Karadeniz Technical University, Istanbul University - Jarrahpaşa, Southern University, Gümüşhane University and Ağrı Ibrahim Chechen University.

Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev welcomed the participants with his opening speech and noted that higher education institutions have important tasks in raising awareness about artificial intelligence. Talking about the tasks arising from the "Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the years 2025-2028" approved by the Order of March 19, 2025, Rector Ilham Aliyev said that in this direction, the formation of the fundamental knowledge base of young people, the implementation of the project-based teaching model and the strengthening of interdisciplinary integration are of particular importance.

The rector pointed out that in the future new specialties related to artificial intelligence are planned to be opened at the university, and work is being done to create office and innovation spaces that will operate in this field. It was also reported that the new office of the IBM Center is planned to be put into use by the end of the year.

The president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that Nakhchivan State University is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the educational system of Azerbaijan. In his speech, the academician noted that different age groups should gradually get acquainted with basic algorithms, programming models and concepts of artificial intelligence. According to him, different approaches should be defined for 6-10 years, 11-17 years and post-17 years of university age, and it should be clearly explained which artificial intelligence knowledge and skills young people should acquire at each age. applied, digital skills development and the importance of innovative approaches. The expert noted that in modern times, the correct and purposeful use of artificial intelligence technologies plays an important role in the formation of young people's ability to think analytically, in increasing their creative potential, and in training personnel according to the requirements of the labor market. Shahriyar Mammadli said that the introduction of artificial intelligence-based platforms in educational institutions creates new opportunities for teachers and students, creates conditions for the formation of a personalized teaching model. Professor Mehmet Uzel, Rector of Russia's "Janub" University, Professor Imran Akbarov, Professor Darya Ozer Gülech of Istanbul Technical University and others gave a speech.

The speakers valued the conference as an important platform for exchanging scientific ideas on theoretical and technical aspects of artificial intelligence. In the speeches, it was emphasized that the university provides extensive support to innovative and intellectually oriented initiatives, and that the events held in this direction make an important contribution to the scientific and educational environment. At the same time, the university's hosting of such projects was highly appreciated, and the participants expressed their satisfaction with taking part in the conference.

At the end of the conference, the rector presented plaques and letters of thanks to the participants.

Let us note that the next day, the conference will be divided into sessions. will continue. Section meetings will be held in 12 directions in 4 halls with face-to-face and online (hybrid) participation of researchers from scientific and educational institutions of Azerbaijan and different countries of the world. 148 reports of 264 employees from 34 scientific and educational institutions from our republic and abroad will be presented in the panels held in 21 sections. At the same time, 38 reports of 82 students will be heard in the student section.
