A commemorative event dedicated to January 20 - National Day of Mourning was held at Nakhchivan State University

First, there was a viewing of the art exhibition of the works of teachers and students of the Faculty of Arts of NSU dedicated to January 20 - National Day of Mourning.

The event started with the playing of the National Anthem. After that, the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who died for the freedom of our land was commemorated with a minute of silence.

NDU Rector Elbrus Isayev said that January 20 is not only a sad day in the history of the Azerbaijani people, but also a day when the national awakening began and the heroism of our people was demonstrated. This bloody tragedy was the result of the ugly plan of the USSR, which aimed to suppress the determination of the Azerbaijani people to fight. But the brutality of that night could not break the determination and will of the people. Bloody January II was the main foundation of the victory in the Karabakh war.

The rector noted that the first person to strongly protest the incident of January 20 was Great Leader Heydar Aliyev: "Making a statement in Moscow immediately after the incident of January 20, directly exposing the leadership of the USSR, and conveying what happened to the world press of that time was an example of the National Leader's usual determination."

Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Honored Teacher Mammad Rzayev stressed in his speech that this tragedy caused heavy losses to the people of Azerbaijan and destroyed the social foundations of the USSR. weakened it and dealt a serious blow to its reputation and management power.

Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor, Honored Teacher Garib Allahverdiyev spoke on the eve of the January 20 incident as a participant and witness of the processes in Nakhchivan and shared his memories of the social and political events that took place during that period. He emphasized that the withdrawal of Nakhchivan from the USSR by the decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Nakhchivan MSSR in January 1990 was a symbol of the determination of the Azerbaijani people on the path to freedom. noted that it is a manifestation of the national will of the people. He emphasized that this bloody and glorious history played an important role in the formation of the moral foundations of our independence and in the national-spiritual education of young people. The presented video was made with the participation of the students of the International Cambridge School operating under NSU.

At the end, the literary-artistic composition "Blood Memory and the Victory of Right" prepared by the NSU Student Theater Studio with the vocal group "Belcanto" was presented.
